Sparkling Video Partners with World Class Photographer
As reported in the Spring, 2009 issue of Kallah Magazine, Sparkling Video has partnered with a truly amazing photographer. Beto has many years of international experience capturing weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, as well as dignitaries and celebrities. Beto’s work is special because he captures the essence of the subject. He loves to highlight details that other people might miss, but that make a tremendous difference in the message of an image. Like our videographers, his work is unobtrusive but thorough. He loves what he does, and we love working with him! We are looking forward to greeting the public together at the Simcha Expo in Brooklyn on Sunday, May 10th. Hope to see you there!

An Interesting Bar Mitzvah Edit
We like to post samples of the edits we do, but in this case, the client is very private and didn’t want any family images on the Internet. We certainly respect their wishes, but couldn’t resist commenting on some of the more interesting aspects of the project. At the affair, we were faced with all kinds of crazy audio. The band was VERY LOUD, and we had to make sure that their sound came through well on our recordings. Then there were speeches, and speeches, and speeches!!! Actually, mostly inspiring, but maybe one or two just a little bit boring! (Can’t win them all). But don’t you know, that during one of the most important (and compelling) speeches, the hall’s sound system stopped working? We hadn’t miked the podium in this case since everything through the speakers was so LOUD!! But our cameras have extremely sensitive mikes on board, and they picked up the speech that wasn’t amplified. We just had to equalize it a bit, and it sounded just fine (better than the amplified portion, if you must know!)
On the video side of things, the mother and sister of the bar mitzvah boy wore beautiful, flouncy dresses. We had a great time catching close ups of those frocks in motion. There’s nothing like a video! And did we mention the dancing?? The Bar Mitzvah boy’s kindergarten teacher came to the party and wowed everyone with dynamic dancing! All the kids had a blast!! We love shooting bar and bat mitzvahs. They’re so much fun!

A Snowy Bar Mitzvah
Whenever it snows now, we think of Lihu’s Vermont Bar Mitzvah. Most unfortunately, all of Lihu’s close NYC relatives booked passage on Jet Blue, on the ill-fated weekend when the airline was grounded. We as videographers, on the other hand, were lucky to have chosen a small commuter airline that weekend, and we made the trip from NYC to Burlington, VT without incident. We are very grateful to be able to provide Lihu and his family with lasting memories from their beautiful simcha! And p.s. — we have flown Jet Blue lots of times since then and have had no problem!

Looking Back at a Fun-Filled Bar Mitzvah
A client asked recently asked us to show them a clip from this bar mitzvah that we shot. Seeing it again brings back a flood of happy memories. We look forward to shooting his brother’s bar mitzvah coming up in September, 2009!

David’s Bar-Mitzvah 3
We have heard a lot of praise before, but never have we received so many accolades as we did for our “life story†piece that we showed on a 10 foot screen at David’s Bar Mitzvah. People just kept coming up to us to say what an amazing job we did. Some said that the video was the highlight of the evening! That makes us so happy, because, yes of course this is a business, but every project that we do is so personal. We put tremendous effort in to creating a “life story†that reflects the client and tells a story in an interesting and dynamic way.  We are so blessed that we are able to make people happy just by going to work!
In David’s case, he grew up with a strong appreciation for classical music and symphonies. The family had lots of video clips with the little conductor, so we aligned them to the accompanying Fifth Symphony of Beethoven. For this job, the client chose to create the montage based on particular themes, and did not do a straight chronological run through of David’s life.  Both styles are fine, but we find that a theme-based presentation can be more fun to watch!
Mazel Tov to David and his extended family! We thank them for choosing Sparkling Video.

David’s Bar Mitzvah 2 — with Avraham Fried!!!
We just completed our shoot in
The video is an amazing tapestry of video clips (over 100) and several hundred still images, woven together to tell Dovid’s story. His family chose Beethoven’s Fifth Symphyony for background, which adds power and excitement to the photo/video essay.
We find that choice of music is crucial to the success of a video project. Music sets the tone for the piece. We create our montages to “dance†along to the beat and melody of the accompanying music, which gives them a dynamic look.
We look forward to showing this piece at Dovid’s Bar Mitzvah – we have a magnificent 10 foot screen that will command the room!

David’s Bar Mitzvah
We’re psyched. An up-coming bar mitzvah hired us to create a “story of my life†video about their son David. This one includes footage of the then three-year-old bar-mitzvah boy performing on stage with Avraham Fried. It turns out that brave little David ran up on stage during a concert and two audience members captured the scene on video. It was our job to synchronize the home-videos, and color-correct them as much as possible. No one can believe that this wasn’t staged – but it wasn’t!!
Â
Now, David’s family has the particular good fortune to actually KNOW Avraham Fried, so the perfomer agreed do a follow-up shoot with David sometime soon. We’ll keep you posted!
